Thomson Dominates Melendez, Wins Strikeforce Title

He wore a mouthpiece that had "Champ" on it, and Josh "The Punk" Thomson

became that last night as he defeated Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce

Lighweight Championship.

Melendez did not look like his old self as he was dominated by Thomson

throughout the entire fight, whether in the stand up game or on the ground.

Thomson who was not at 100 percent because of an injury to his shoulder, had

nothing but praise for Melendez after the fight. "He's the toughest mother f*****

I've ever fought." Josh said after the fight.

"The Punk" was a two-to-one underdog coming into the fight, won on all judges

scorecards 50-45.

Bobby Southworth wins via unanimous decision over Anthony Ruiz to keep his light heavyweight championship.

Billy Evangelista wins via split decision over Nam Pham.

Miesha Tate wins via unanimous decision over Elaina Maxwell.

Jeremiah Metcalf gnp'ed his way to victory via submission via rear-naked choke against Raymond Daniels who was making his MMA debut coming from The World Combat League.

Chris Cariaso wins via rear-naked choke against Anthony Figueroa.

Bobby Stack wins via unanimous decision over Jose Palacios

Bryan Caraway wins via forced tapout against Alvin Cacdac

Eric Lawson wins via submission/rear-naked choke against Jessie Gillespie

Cyrillo Padhillo wins via unanimous decision against Jesse Jones

Jore Interiano wins via TKO against Travis Johnson

Alexander Trivino wins via submission/armbar against Eric Jacob
